Scarves, Stoles, Shawls and Bandanas begin to appear in the fall, when winter is just about to come in. They are amongst most popular fashion accessories. They come in various forms and designs.

Stoles and scarves are narrower and shorter than the shawl. All three are fashion accessories made in expensive fabric, usually worn around the shoulders, or the head for warmth. Some of them have intricate hand embroidery work. Some are even hand woven. They come in various fabrics, like pashminas, merino, alpaca etc.

History- Ancient Rome is said to be the place of origin of the scarf. They used the Sudarium, which was used to wipe the sweat. During the reign of the Chinese Emperor Cheng, scarves were used to identify officers and ranks. Scarves were also worn by the Croatian army around the 17th Century. The men’s scarves were called “cravats.”
